about

We wrote this song as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the "shelter-in-place" rules. By now we all know how massive a rupture this was to all of our systems and structures: public health, economic stability on both a micro and macro level, especially artists and gig economy workers, the well-being and survival of the most vulnerable populations who have been subjected to social inequalities for a long time.

For me, the crisis was less about my own health and more about seeing the well-being of our social systems collapse, out of the neglect on the part of the federal government to provide any necessary protections for something like this. All evidence points to the fact that the administration had been advised long before a certain White House occupant decided to finally call it a pandemic.

We've been working on a greed-based model of unchecked capitalism run amok for too long now. This is not sustainable. This is our opportunity to create new structures and systems of support. This song helped me get off the roller coaster of rage and despair I felt in response to this pandemic. I hope it helps us all stay better connected.

We will be donating a portion of our proceeds to a local Arizona organization working to achieve social justice through grass roots activism.

lyrics

Here I go once more into the fray.
I cannot keep this crazy world at bay.
Here I go once more into the fire.
I burn myself. I purge myself, just trying to stay inspired.

We are souls in isolation, losing sight of what it's all for.
I give it all I can give. And then I give some more.

When I hear you calling out my name.
I wake up and reach out, but you’re not there with me.
When I find myself on hallowed ground
I close my eyes and try to see you smile at me.

We are souls in isolation, losing sight of what it's all for.
I give it all I can. Until I have no more.

Looking for some time to heal our soul.
What will it take for us to feel whole again.
What’s it gonna take for us to see
The value of the humans looking back at me.

Cuz I need you. And you need me.
And I need you. And you need me.
And we need us to be one humanity.
